Lama Ngawang Rigdzin

Introduction

Personal comments from Lama Ngawang Rigdzin

The venerable Lama Ngawang Rigdzin was Born in 1961 into the family of a spiritual healer in Kathmandu, Nepal.  From his early years he expressed interest in understanding the true purpose and nature of life.  He grew up with the inspiration of his father, a renowned spiritual healer in his native community and a follower of the Tibetan Bon tradition who showed him through experience the benefits of practices such as spiritual distance healing. Young Lama Ngawang Rigdzin began the search for his own spiritual master who would teach him the secrets of the path of Dharma, the ancient teachings of Buddhism.

He visited many holy places and masters in Nepal and India, learning spiritual practices that brought him to understand the importance of natural healing in the service of others.  “To serve other people is to serve supreme beings” became his highest maxim. He sought deep understanding of the healing powers of Dr Mikao Usui, the Japanese Buddhist monk who rediscovered Reiki.  As these powers related with the Buddhist text known as the Lotus Sutra, Lama Ngawang Rigdzin undertook the study of Vajrayana Buddhism under a Rinpoche, or high incarnated Lama, at Serlo Monastary, Solukhumbu, in the Himalayan region of Nepal.  Finally, his spiritual search led him to India to be invested with the title of Reiki Grand Master.

Lama Ngawang Rigdzin established the Reiki Meditation Centre in Kathmandu, Nepal. In its early days it functioned near to the Great Stupa at Boudha and later at the Swayambhunath Stupa at Bhagwanpau.  At present it is located in Samakhushi where it is now well known in both Nepal and to many foreigners. It has benefited well over 6000 people in its Reiki treatments both from Nepal and internationally and has helped over 1000 people to help find their own ‘right path’.  It has also conducted many thousands of Reiki initiations.

Lama Ngawang Rigdzin is now currently working towards the creation of what he describes as the world’s first ever Reiki Hospital (Formerly: Spiritual Healing Centre) which is to be based just outside of Kathmandu in the foothills of the Himalayas.  This project is initially being funded through donations so if you wish to be involved please either contact us directly at the centre or click here for more information.

While we experience this human life, such a valuable gift should not be wasted diverted from its purpose of self-fulfillment, which is to make efforts to serve the well-being of all living creatures. This is the teaching the sages have sent us since ancient times. From the day I understood this, I spent most of my time absorbed in contemplating and meditating on divine cosmic knowledge, although previously I had been involved in the more material interests of family and public relationships. After a few years I became curious to learn about supreme power and divine healing methods. To shed more light on these concerns I began a quest for truth, which led me from the Himalayas of Nepal to the deserts of India. The point I stand at now, is the intention to serve mankind throughout my life. In order to bring healing to those in need, I established the "Bodhisattva Meditation and Treatment Centre" at Bijeshwori. Through this organization I began using Reiki as a vehicle of healing through compassion. This is how the majority of healers contacted me and received the benefits of cosmic healing energy. Eventually we began working as a unit. I realized that such knowledge should not be kept to individuals but passed on to family members, friends and humankind in general, in order to construct a better tomorrow. That is the reason I left my family - to spread welfare in the world - and devotion to divine power gave me the hope of serving humanity. It was painful to be away from home, but I was prepared to face all kind of difficulties to further the cause. By the grace of my Gurus and a majority of colleagues we decided to rename the organization and register it as “Nepal Reiki Meditation Centre”, dedicated to spiritual practice, cosmic healing and meditation. At the same time, demand for Reiki was surging; this led us to a wider, expanded view of Reiki, opening out to the vision of a Reiki Hospital - a vision both clear and very moving. As I still recall, it was beauty of this vision that made me roll up my sleeves and get to work.
