Nepal Reiki Meditation Centre was founded by Reiki Guru, Ven. Lama Ngawang Rigzin, who was born in 1961 in Kathmandu, Nepal. into a Lama family. From his early boyhood, he took an intense interest in spiritual philosophy and the essential purpose of life. For this reason, he sought contact with many spiritual teachers whose philosophical knowledge would help him understand the real values in human life.

This quest took him to many holy places in India, and encounters with many renowned Hindu and other eminent masters. By now he has dedicated more than two decades to the cause of spiritual learning and practice, with studies in a wide range of meditation and healing techniques. He is an expert on Vajrayana Tibetan Buddhism of the Nyingma Tradition, which he learned in the Serlo Monastery in Solokhumbhu at the foot of Mountt Everest, under the direct supervision and spiritual guidance of reincarnated Master Pema Tharchin Rinpoche.

He is the first Lama to be honored with the title of Reiki Grand Master, and is Founder - Chairperson of the Nepal Reiki Meditation Center, the only institution in Nepal especially devoted to bringing Reiki healing and meditation to its people. More than 5,000 disciples, both Nepalese and foreigners, have had the golden opportunity of taking initiation into Reiki initiation from the Lama Guru. In Chile, South America, the Reiki Social Benefit Group, "Nepal Reiki Chile Salud Solidaria", has also been developed under his guidance and initiative - www.nepalreikichile.cl. His dream project is to establish a Reiki Hospital in Nepal, a dream which he is confident will one day come true. Already, valuable community healing workshops in places like swoyambhu and lalitpur begin to point the way towards making it a reality.

REIKI'S DEEPEST AND MOST ANCIENT ROOTS LIE IN NEPAL.

In the Community of Patan Dhoka, Lalitpur, an ancient story is still told of the old lady Guetaa Aji, who prepared to feed Lord Buddha and his large retinue of disciples by sweeping the fallen paddy from the streets of Gue Tole at harvest time ... Gue Tole is the site of our recent Reiki healing and teaching workshops. It is not widely known that Reiki's deepest roots lie the Nepalese village of Lumbini, where, 2,600 years ago, Prince Siddhartha was born and raised, before leaving his family for a life of spiritual searching and meditation that led to his enlightenment as the historic Gautam Buddha. Lord Buddha frequented Lalitpur and was the eminent teacher of such famous healing disciples as Ratna Garbha, dedicated to the social purpose of bringing welfare and healing those people most in need. This healing knowledge was passed down through a succession of later masters until eventually it fell into disuse. What survived was a long-standing association between Vaisajya Buddha (Medicine Buddha), universal energy healing and Sutras such as the Lotus Sutra. This Sutra contributed to religious investigator Dr Mikao Usui’s re-discovery of the healing principles he later articulated as Reiki, a practice which then spread from Japan to North America, Europe, and back again to Asia, specifically to the area of Kathmandu. This is how, at grass roots level of local community we are working to restore a special, sacred part of the spiritual birthright of the Nepali people, to be recognized and practiced in its place of origin once more.
